A stripped-down, cover rendition of Underworld’s classic hit “Born Slippy” by Get Well Soon added a unique touch to the Dries Van Noten menswear show, which took place in the former French Post and Customs sorting office. Van Noten has a talent for discovering extraordinary venues in central Paris that have never been used before, and this location was no exception. In terms of innovations, Van Noten introduced a new technique to his repertoire: hand marbling, traditionally used on paper, which he applied to stunning effect. This method was strikingly effective on raincoats and outerwear, and even created eye motifs on casual wear. The show’s finale featured a rainbow of marbled prints, with models lined up in a vibrant array of saturated colors. The collection itself was a sophisticated wardrobe that transcended time and fashion norms, blending influences from Nashville to folk, with traditional menswear elements, western details, and fringing meeting broderie anglaise in flowing cotton trousers and coats. A new wide collar appeared throughout the collection on jackets and hand-knitted crochet cardigans, adding a retro-futuristic vibe to the silhouette. Van Noten described the collection as “a few of my favorite things,” and it certainly introduced numerous new favorites for his devoted fans in attendance.
